The first ever Troop 121 Boots & Paddles campout was a huge success.  The scouts were divided into two groups on Friday night and camped in two separate locations.  Then Saturday morning they learned their challenge, to either hike or canoe to a location on their maps.  They had to determine where they were, where they need to go, a route to get there, and then get there as a group!  They also had to do this task with no adult help – the adults just followed the crews around wherever they went.

Both groups arrived in base camp at the same time on Saturday afternoon.  We then spent the rest of the day learning about water filtration and more backpacking skills.  Dinner was cooked by Zack, and it was a great end to a long day.

Sunday, we had chapel then the crews switched roles, and the crew that hiked in canoed out.  The crew that canoed in then hiked out.  Both crews successfully completed both legs of their trek.

The scouts did a great job conquering their challenge and had a lot of fun along the way.
