In preparation for this weekend’s backpacking trip, here are some details and materials to make your experience a success.

What to Pack?

CLICK HERE for the current backpacking list. Here are two items from the packing list that may be confusing for first time backpackers. We will be discussing each item on the packing list in detail during the camping trip.

  • Smellable Bag (Ditty Bag) – This is a bag that you put all of your “smellable” items in. Then everyone’s smellable bag goes into the bear bag, which in turn is hung in the trees. This helps keep unwanted furry visitors out of your tent and out of camp while you sleep. The bag should be about the size of gallon ziplock bag. If you don’t have a bag to use as a smellable bag, then feel free to bring a gallon ziplock bag.
  • Personal Tarp – This is a 2 foot by 2 foot cutout of a tarp. Think of it as your back country chair. If you don’t have something to use, we will get you a personal tarp to use.

The weather is showing a 100% chance of rain on Saturday with a high of 37 and a low of 26. Please come prepared with extra socks and several layers to help you stay warm.
