Youth Protection Training (YPT)

Instructions for YPT: How-To Guide – Taking Youth Protection Training – 2018.03.01

If you are registered with the troop you must complete the new Youth Protection Training (YPT) by the end of September 2018.  Your registration will be dropped by the Hoosier Trails Council if you have not completed YPT by the end of September.  This requirement is not a troop requirement.  The troop cannot grant you an extension.  We have been announcing this update for several months now.  Please read the material below, most of which is directly from the Hoosier Trails Council Registrar!

Q:  Are there instructions?
A:  Yes, see link above.

Q:  What website do I use?
A:  https://my.scouting.org/

Q:  How do I get an account?
A: Youth Protection Training may be accessed via your My.Scouting.org account.  If you cannot access your My.Scouting.org, please do not create a second account!  We will not be able to locate your training if you create a new account.  If you have ever taken any on-line training, you have a My.Scouting.org account.  If you cannot remember your logon id, e-mail used to set up your my.Scouting.org account, or your password, please contact the My.Scouting Help Desk at:  972-580-2489 for assistance. The Help Desk is available from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. Eastern time, Monday through Friday.

Q:  What is my membership number?
A:   Every registered member of the BSA has a membership number.  You can get it at a troop meeting.  You can also call the council office to request it.

Q:  What do I do when I’m finished?
A:  Your records should be automatically updated.  You should also receive a PDF of your training certificate in your email.  Please forward your certificate to Clay.  Your updated YPT certificate will be available approximately one hour after you complete the course.  Please print and forward a copy of your certificate or screen prints showing the completed modules to my attention.

Q:  How long does it take?
A:  About 45 – 60 minutes.
