Despite a very hot and humid Saturday, Troop 121 had a successful Back to Basics at the start of June. Over 30 youth attended this annual campout where the Scouts go “Back to Basics” and learn, or re-learn, important skills and topics necessary in camping, first-aid, citizenship, health and fitness, and a whole slew of other skills.
The highlights of the week were the five mile hike through the woods on Friday, the round-robin skill stations for the younger scouts and Exploration merit badge for the older scouts, and finally the Court of Honor on Sunday. The Troop was able to avoid the major storms, but did get soaked several times by rain showers. After a rain shower on Friday afternoon, a double rainbow appeared over camp.
Congratulations to all of the youth for completing skills, merit badges, and rank advancements. Thank you to all of the adults who volunteered your time during the weekend, and thank you the Baumgartner’s for letting a gaggle of smelly and noisy boys invade your property for the weekend.
