The backpacking crew of 21 scouts and leaders weathered the blistering snow, sleet, and rain at Morgan Monroe State Forrest this weekend. The group woke up Saturday morning to a layer of slush and ice covering the tents and gear. As the day progressed, it continued to rain, sleet, and snow on the crew.
We worked on the fundamental basics of backpacking including
- Dressing in layers (and for the weather)
- Setting up camp around the “Bear-muda Triangle”
- Backcountry cooking
We will continue learning how to backpack effectively over the next several camping trips.
